Context menu: Heteronymous Congruence

This display shows the mirrored congruence between right and left visual field. The left visual field is mirrored and superimposed over the right field. At each point the difference RIGHT-LEFT field is calculated

Right image: difference value as number. Positive number = value (defect depth) better on the right eye

Left image: compound of 2 Color Defect Maps from the right and left eye. Dependent on the difference, various geometrical patterns are shown:

VERTICAL stripes: difference positive, values better on the right and worse on the left eye

HORIZONTAL stripes: difference negative, values worse on the right eye

UNIFORM areas: mimimal difference between right and left, defect depth in the same color shade class

CONCLUSION: This image shows the mirror-image symmetry between right and left visual field. The evaluation is intuitive driven by the continuous, colored and patterned style. The contrast shows the amount of difference. This image helps in dignostics.

Further information

The resulting image is oriented like a RIGHT field, nasal is left and tempora right. The example shows a heteronymous defect of the upper temporal quadrant.

Both blind spots are exactly superimposed by the mirroring. With normal visual fields, they appear as a singular dark spot on the right side
