Pattern Deviation (numerals)

The Pattern deviation image has no own menu item or button. The image appears in the Single Window together with the Probability Map

This image shows the Pattern Deviation values as number. The values are typically in the range of +5 dB through –35 dB. Negative numbers are "relative defects".

The numbers are always black (in contrast to the unshifted total deviation values). There are no symbols for absolute defects or values in the normal range.

Pattern deviation values are shifted total deviation values (defect depth values) and show only a part of the deviation. The shift is different for each visual field. This reduces the validity.   -- Click here for more information about this value type, the meaning and interpretation


CONCLUSION: This image type may help to recognize the pattern of damage. Because only a part of the deviation is shown, there is a considerable risk to underestimate the overall damage.   -- Newer image types (CDM=color defect map, color-coded total deviation map) have a similar power to recognize damage patterns.
