The network connection with the Humphrey Field Analyzer 3 (Model 8xx)

1. LAN connection

The HFA 3 is technically a combination of a windows PC with an examination unit. The data transmission between the HFA3 and the receiver-PC uses the local network (LAN). The device is connected to the LAN with an Ethernet cable and registered in the local windows workgroup. These work is usually done by a network administrator or a well-informed person.

The HFA3 device is visible on the receiver PC under a name like e.g. "840-12345". The name is a compound of the device type (840, 860,...) and the serial number. The receiver PC logs onto the HFA3 with the user name "Zeiss" and the password "November171846".

2. Definition of the exchange folder

For data transmission, the HFA 3 exports a file to a defined folder. PeriData reads this file. This "exchange folder" (export folder for the HFA3, import folder for PeriData) has to be shared in the network, to enable access for both computers (Everyone - Full Control). The exchange folder can be created everywhere. To our experience, it should be created on the HFA3-PC, because then later changes in the network (PC changed, Server changed) will not require any new configuration on the HFA3-PC. The details are given on the page "Export configuration at the HFA3 device".
